![]() ![]() Hybrid style features selected round log or timber frame elements and accents, used in areas where they will have maximum visual effect.
Generally, a hybrid shell does not consist of a complete free standing structure;
it relies on conventional framing for some or most of its structural support.
In this example, only a few full log beams are used in visible areas of the roof.
The entry porch posts and roof are of full log, similar to a round log post and beam or a log fusion shell.
Hybrid construction is a good choice for those wanting to get the maxiumum visual bang for their buck.
Prominent areas like the entry and the great room can feature full log beams and posts.
Or, the visual effect of full log can be achieved using slabs or logs cut to shape, which are then applied
to framed walls and ceilings.
The amount and extent of the hybrid elements can vary hugely, depending on both the particular design of
the home, and on the client's wishes and budget.
You may notice that Hybrid is not one of the Building Style choices available on the On-Line Price Quote page for our Log Home Plans. This is simply because there is such a huge variation in how extensive the log work can be, ranging from just a few log accents to a complete system that will look much like a true full log package. Please contact us by phone or email if you would like to explore this option for any of our log home designs.
